Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Identify safe access methods and working platforms
  2. Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  3. Use appropriate access methods to gain access to the work location
  4. Inspect work platforms to confirm that they are appropriate for the purpose, are located in a correct manner and comply with any regulatory controls
  5. Move around and work safely on recreational vessels
  6. Select work methods and tools appropriate for the task
  7. Identify and use appropriate engineering controls
  8. Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
  9. Use appropriate warning signs and signals
  10. Minimise, control and dispose of work residues in accordance with SOPs
  11. Maintain worksite in a clean and tidy state using appropriate housekeeping methods
  12. Follow emergency procedures for incidents in the marine environment
  13. Use communication systems and methods to convey emergency messages
  14. Follow drills for fire, explosion, toxic/dangerous spills and leakage, personal illness or injury, man overboard, collision or vessel damage
